Trailer watch: Oz the Great and Powerful

IMDb has listed a big screen version of Stephen Schwartz’s Wicked for some years now but whilst that remains a ‘maybe’, one further visit to Oz is definitely on the cards thanks to Sam Raimi.

The trailer certainly looks colourful and there is a stellar cast involved but I came away rather unimpressed by the visuals.  They are great don’t get me wrong, but so are the special effects in the original and I would go as far as to say they are more impressive.

I do like the style of the trailer though, the subtle hint to the original and then the expansive break through to the new land. Based on this trailer, what are your thoughts?
